What We Do

Pacific Development Program

The Pacific Development Program (PDP) is designed to fulfill the ADRA South Pacific Vision of providing capacity development, advocacy, education and support to ADRA offices in the South Pacific. The Pacific Development Program provides the following services to ADRA offices:
  • Specialist Consultancy
  • Training/Facilitation
  • Advocacy
  • Mentoring/Coaching
The PDP uses a tool called a “Joint Organisational Assessment” (JOA). The JOA is conducted by the PDP Coordinator, or an approved consultant, and relevant Board, Management and staff members in the implementing agency. The JOA is conducted in an open, participatory and supportive way that reinforces the commitment by ADRA South Pacific to support and strengthen the work of implementing ADRA agencies in the South Pacific Division.

The JOA process is conducted for the following reasons:
To review key organisational areas and to determine what organisational strengthening is required and what priorities should be addressed by the ADRA agency, and what assistance can be provided by ADRA South Pacific
  • To provide baseline information on the organisation that can be compared and analyzed against subsequent JOA reviews to identify any effective organisational strengthening
  • As a tool that will be used in the future for licensing of ADRA offices
Currently PDP has JOA Action Plans in place with ADRA Papua New Guinea and ADRA Solomon Islands. The Pacific Development Program is currently staffed by a part-time Coordinator based in Australia and a full-time Field Officer based in Fiji.
